Trio arrested after drugs seized off St. Lucy

Fifteen polythene bags and two taped packages containing 768.24 lbs of Cannabis were seized approximately 11.8 nautical miles off the Cement Plant, Checker Hall, St. Lucy.

The seizure happened on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Today via press release, police revealed that members of the Drug Squad have arrested and formally charged a Barbadian, and two Vincentian Nationals in relation to the drug seizure. 

They are Barbadian National, Delon Covelle Asgill, a 36-year-old of West Terrace, St. James, and Vincentian Nationals Kenrick Kevin John, 25 years, and Keron Andre Walters, 32 years.

The trio were formally charged for:

·     Possession of cannabis within the territorial waters of Barbados

·     Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply

·     Trafficking Cannabis within the territorial waters of Barbados

·     Importation of Cannabis

The trio appeared before Magistrate Wanda Blair in the Holetown Magistrates Court, today, Wednesday, January 17, 2018, and were all remanded to prison.

The two Vincentian Nationals are expected to reappear in Court tomorrow, January 18, 2018, whereas, Asgill will return to Court on February 12, 2018.
