Tropical Storm Josephine has passed to the north of the northern Leeward Islands however two tropical waves are now being monitored in the Caribbean.

The US National Hurricane Center in its 8 am bulletin said disturbance one, a fast-moving tropical wave, is located about 850 miles east of the Windward islands.

This system is expected to move westward at about 20 miles per hour during the next few days.

That fast speed is likely to limit development while the system approaches the Windward and southern Leeward Islands on August 16 and Monday and moves across the eastern Caribbean Sea on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, disturbance two, another tropical wave, is located just west of the coast of Africa.

This wave is forecast to move westward during the next few days and some development will be possible by the middle to latter part of the week.

The Meteorological Service in St Vincent and the Grenadines has already indicated that it is monitoring disturbance one which is located about 850 miles east of the Windward Islands.

Update on Tropical Storm Josephine

The US National Hurricane Center in its 5 am bulletin said Josephine is passing far enough to the north of the Leeward Islands to prevent major impacts.

However, interests there should continue to monitor its progress until the storm has passed north of that area.

On August 15, the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service discontinued its tropical cyclone alert for the Leeward Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

It stated Tropical Storm Josephine is no longer in the monitored area and no longer deemed a wind threat to the islands.
