However, one driver was not so lucky.

According to reports reaching Loop News, there was a line of traffic from the Warrens direction in the single lane waiting for the Hinds Hill-Cave Hill lights to change to green, when it appears as though the driver of a truck coming from the lights up the hill in the outside lane towards Warrens lost control of the vehicle on the wet road and shot straight through the line of traffic.

The truck collided with and moved a motorcar out of the road and continued into the cut rock before coming to a stop.

When drivers passed the crash, Loop hears the female driver of the motorcar was in pain and being consoled by her passengers before the male driver of the truck and his passengers disembarked to lend assistance.

Police from the Traffic Division are asking drivers to adjust their speed to suit the weather and road conditions.

This was also a plea from the President of the Barbados Road Safety Association, Sharmane Roland-Bowen going into 2018.

"Do not drive after drinking, forget about speeding - speeding means death. Don’t drive too fast for the conditions. No excessive speed!”
