More Saint Lucian nationals arrived on their home island through repatriation efforts amid a global travel shutdown prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twenty more Saint Lucians, who are employees of Carnival Corporation LLC, were immediately taken to the Castries Public Health Facility, after disembarking Carnival Glory, which was anchored off the Vigie Coast on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

On Friday, May 8, 2020, a similar exercise was undertaken, when 208 Saint Lucians returned home, months after being under quarantine on board the various ships they worked on amid the pandemic, not knowing if or when they would return home.

The repatriation efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic forms part of the response by the Government of Saint Lucia in ensuring that all citizens are returned home safely.

To date, the government has repatriated 248 nationals.

The returning nationals were thoroughly screened as per COVID-19 quarantines protocols before being transported to the health facility.
