Two fatal drownings in Barbados on one day
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding two separate drowning incidents, which took the lives of two elderly persons.
The first tragic incident occurred at Browne's Beach along Bay Street in St. Michael about 2:30 pm. The deceased is an elderly male. According to the police report, he was pulled from the water after he was seen floating by a member of the public. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The second drowning occurred in the East of the island at Crane Beach in St. Philip. It reportedly occurred at about 3:50 pm. Police spokesperson Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss told the media, "A 64-year-old UK visitor staying at a guest house at Fitts Village, St. James, got into difficulties whilst swimming. He was brought to shore by the lifeguard on duty and received medical treatment but passed away. Investigations are ongoing."
