Update: Victim succumbs to injuries one day after his birthday

For three days, the identity of an accident victim, who is now Barbados' latest road fatality, was unknown.

Succumbing to his injuries last evening, Friday, May 3, 2019, two days after he was struck by a minivan on May Day, today he was identified.

He was Shawn Anderson Blackman of Fairview, Christ Church.

Blackman gave this as one of the names, when initially interrogated by police at the scene of the accident on May Day, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, along Vauxhall Road, St. James.

Unfortunately, police also learned that Blackman died one day after his 44th birthday.

Update: Victim dies after being hit by minivan

Identity still unknown, police have confirmed that last night's accident victim has passed away.

He succumbed to his injuries at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. 



Unidentified man seriously injured in accident

A male pedestrian has been seriously injured following an accident which occurred along Vauxhall Road, St. James.  

According to police reports, the accident involved a minibus and the unidentified male pedestrian just after 6 pm on Wednesday, May 1.  

The pedestrian is currently listed in critical condition at the surgical intensive care unit at the QEH. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, dark complexion medium built with black and grey hair. He also has a broad mouth and appears to be in his mid 50’s.

When asked, he gave his name as Michael Blackman, Shawn Blackman and Charles Blackman.  

Anyone who may have information which may lead to the identity of the male pedestrian is asked to contact Holetown Police Station at 419-1700 police emergency at 211. Crime Stoppers at 1800TIPS or any Police Station.
