Updated story:

Pastor Kenrick Bernard, 72, has been granted bail after appearing in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court in Trinidad and Tobago, charged with four counts of sexual touching against a minor.

The offences occurred sometime between September 30 and October 4.

Bernard was granted $80,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Erica Baptiste Ramkissoon last Friday to answer the charges.

The matter was adjourned to November 9.

The child’s father and aunt took her to the Matura Police Station on October 5, where a report was made and the Eastern Division’s Child Protection Unit (EDCPU) contacted.

The EDCPU launched an investigation, which resulted in the accused being arrested at his home last Thursday.

Bernard was subsequently charged with the offences by WPC Kernisha Valere, on the same day.
