Barbados' Darian King was all smiles after he made history when he defeated Lukas Lacko in the last qualifying round at the US Open Tennis Championships.

Post-match on Friday, August 25, 2017, the Caribbean and Central America Tennis Confederation (Cotecc) on their Facebook page wrote:

"Darian King did it!!! For first time in his career will play a Grand Slam. He defeated Lukas Lacko 36 64 63 in the last qualifying round... Well done Darian!!!"

The Barbados Tennis Association Inc. shared Cotecc's post and added, 'Well done Darian King!'

On his Facebook page, Barbados' King said:

"US Open

"Thanks everyone for the messages and calls. Was great to get the W today over Lukas Lacko (SVK) to get in to my first ever Grand Slam ever .

"Thanks to everyone who has helped me on the journey .

"I will play #4 seed Alexander Zverev in the main draw."

His next match is a night session scheduled for Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Authur Ashe Stadium.
