A shooting at New Orleans, St Michael did not only raise concern over the number of persons involved in gun-related crimes in Barbados, but the various calibre shells found by police highlighted questions about the types of weapons being sneaked into the island. 

Acting public relations officer with the Royal Barbados Polic Force, Sergeant Michael Blackman confirmed that one person was injured during the incident which occurred around 9:30 pm last night.

However, unconfirmed reports from some media outlets state that one person died as a result of the injuries they sustained during this incident.

Sergeant Blackman's statement reads:

"Police are carrying out investigations into a shooting incident at New Orleans, St Michael which occurred about 9:30 pm Sunday, September 23. 

"Police have recovered a large number of spent shells from various calibre of weapons. One person was reported injured and is seeking private medical attention."
