Fans of The Big Bang Theory TV series know of Dr. Sheldon Cooper’s obsession with the world's foremost theoretical physicist, the Late Stephen Hawking.
Hawking passed away at the age of 76, today, March 14, 2018.
On The Big Bang Theory back in 2012, Dr. Sheldon Cooper, theoretical physicist, actually got to meet his hero and idol in an episode titled ‘Hawking Excitation’.
Today, the show’s Twitter account tweeted:
"In loving memory of Stephen Hawking. It was an honor to have him on The #BigBangTheory. Thank you for inspiring us and the world".
“I have lived with the prospect of an early death for the last 49 years. I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first.” RIP Stephen Hawking.
And Jim Parsons, who plays the character Dr. Sheldon Cooper posted a photo on his Instagram two hours ago with the caption:
'Thank you, Stephen Hawking. <3'
Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco (her last name translates to ‘cook’ in Italian) on her official Instagram:
'It was truly such an honor getting to work with the incredible Stephen Hawking.. He made us laugh and we made him laugh. His life and career workings have been many a subject matter on @thebigbangtheory and we are all better for it. You will be missed but the world is grateful for the knowledge and courage you leave in your path. Thank you for being an inspiration to everyone [praying hands emoji] stephenhawking <3'
For decades, Hawking was wheelchair-bound due to Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a neurological disease that handcuffs movement. He communicated via a speech synthesizer.
His family announced his death via statement early today, Wednesday.
Renowned, Hawking was best known as the author of A Brief History of Time, the best-selling 1988 book that first brought modern astrophysics into popular understanding for many and made him into an icon.
