VIDEO: Pipeline to Worthing Beach marine outfall being blocked down

Divers and specialists in marine construction were busy working on the pipeline today as part of the on-going construction of a marine outfall offshore of the Worthing Beach.

Seen with oxygen tanks and other equipment, the divers headed towards the waterline at the South Coast, Christ Church beach.

 

Loop understands that the specialists were getting in position to help block down the new 12-inch pipeline which will run parallel to the existing 8-inch pipeline. The divers and specialists in marine construction will help manoeuvre the pipes and sink them into position along the ocean bed.

The outfall is supposed to be temporary and situated 1, 000 metres offshore from Worthing Beach, Christ Church. .

Despite the fact that there is a construction zone set up in the area, the beach is not closed.

Last week, as this phase of the work commenced on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources advised businesses and beachgoers in the area to exercise caution as the Barbados Water Authority continues to carry out work on the construction of the outfall off that beach.
