The relationship between Prime Minister Mia Mottley and Grammy-award winner and make-up mogul, Rihanna is one of mutual respect.
Last night in New York City, PM Mottley was honoured by Rihanna at the 2019 Diamond Ball. The Ball is the biggest fundraising event for Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation. This year part proceeds will be used to aid the survivors of Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas.

In an interview with Variety, PM Mottley said Rihanna is not one “who has forgotten about people”, quoting the singer’s long list of philanthropic efforts.
PM Mottley said Rihanna’s Barbadian upbringing has made her into the stellar young lady she is today.
On her Instagram, the Prime Minister shared a photo of Rihanna and herself with the caption:
"Her legacy is going to be global, but I think it's also going to very much be colored by her Barbadian upbringing and the values that she received while she grew up and was nurtured in our country." Mia Amor Mottley
