Watch: Andre Russell announces wife's pregnancy, reveals gender

Jamaica and West Indies star cricketer Andre Russell has announced that he and his wife Jassym Lora are expecting their first baby.

The 31-year-old Russell announced the news and the gender of the baby during a celebration on his Instagram page on Monday in style.

In a video posted on Instagram, Lora threw an underarm big white ball to her husband with a bat in hand and when contact was made the ball exploded into pink smoke.


"So it's girl, another blessing in my life it didn't matter if it was a girl or a boy, all am asking God for is a healthy baby," wrote Russell.

The video, which attracted over 400,000 views, invited congratulatory messages from followers, friends, and individuals from the cricket fraternity.

Explosive West Indies opener Chris Gayle replied to the post saying "where was my invitation. Congrats bro..another lucky girl." 

“Wishing a safe pregnancy and successful delivery,” Carlos Braithwaite commented.

Former West Indies captain Daren Sammy posted: “Congratulations champ wishing the wifey a healthy pregnancy @ar12russell”.

“Girls rule the world bro…blessings,” West Indies spinner Samuel Badree stated.
