Watch: Barbados stamps name as cuisine capital with Food and Rum Fest

Barbados is seeking to become the cuisine capital of the Caribbean and the annual Food and Rum Festival is the vehicle the island is staking that claim with.

A team from Barbados, led by Corey Garrett, the Barbados Tourism Authority's Marketing Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, were in Trinidad and Tobago last Thursday to launch the event.

This year the event will be held from October 18 to 21 instead of November as it is usually.

This year the Festival will open with the Oistins Bay Gardens Cook-Off; followed by the Signature Rum Event with food and rum pairings. On Saturday there will be the fine dining events on which pair international chefs with local top chefs and on Sunday the festival climaxes with a Beach Party at the Hilton Resort Barbados along with a fine dining dinner at a signature local restaurant.
