Watch: Bunji Garlin: We've made history coming to Haiti
Soca artist Bunji Garlin was overwhelmed by the outpouring of island unity at UberSoca Cruise.
Talking to fans who easily kept up with his marathon set on the final night of the four-day cruise to Haiti earlier this week, Bunji spoke of the significance of having such a large Caribbean contingent going to an island whose history is steeped in revolution and rebellion.
"We've made a historic venture to Haiti," he said. "I was moved as the ship arrived to shore. Not even the politicians could bring the Caribbean islands together the way the music and the people are getting themselves together in the islands."
He also thanked the UberSoca team for inviting him, allowing him to visit the island for the first time in his life.
"It was an honour to visit such a historical place. I hope the next time...we go to Haiti...all of us...will use our energy and strength to uplift Haiti. Because if the rest of the world doesn't want to uplift them, we will uplift them..is we people."
