WATCH: Over 4,000 people fight off cold in winter swim festival

Braving the freezing winter weather, more than 4,000 people have taken part in a swimming contest held on January 7 as part of the 31st Haeundae Polar Bear Swim Festival in South Korea’s southeastern beach of Haeundae in Busan, following what polar bears do in the Arctic Ocean.

The participants, whose ages range from three to 82, put on only swimming suits and t-shirts as they jumped into the biting winter sea, with many male swimmers appearing topless. As mentioned its title, the annual festival also featured campaigns for saving polar bears, as well as the ice bucket challenge.
