Congratulations to Ashley Lashley, you have made Barbados proud!

Miss World Barbados Ashley Lashley, may not have won the Miss World pageant, but she surely won the hearts of many across Barbados and the world. 

Ashley showed great poise as she represented the island at the 68th Miss World pageant in Sanya, China. And her grace, determination and desire to help others live their best lives did not go unnoticed, as she stood out in a number of areas.

She has been very actively seeking to help Barbadians change those lifestyle practices which increase their riks of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD). 

Speaking at various events, visiting students and making use of every opportunity to spread the message that exercise and wholesome eating can be incorporated into everyday life, she has been a shining light for creating a healthier Barbados - something which the Miss World organisation took note of. 

The Beauty with a Purpose programme of the pageant is a non-profit organisation which allows contestants to highlight various areas of activism which they are seeking to champion. Ashley's humanitarian efforts were so impressive that she was in the top 22 of the over 100 contestants in the competition.

Her charity work was not the only area where the Barbadian beauty stood out, as she was also in the top 30 in the Miss World Top Model Competition. And she stood out once again yesterday in the live show, as she made the overall top 30 list.
