The Royal Barbados Police Force is investigating an incident in which a man was struck with a piece of wood yesterday.
Police report that 22-year-old Raymon Nurse is the man who was seen being struck in the video widely circulated on social media yesterday.
Acting Public Relations Officer with the Force, Station Sergeant Michael Blackman (ag), provided details on the incident:
"On Wednesday, 02 January, police responded to a report at Risk Road, Fitts Village, St James, where they spoke with Raymon Nurse, 22 years, of 4th Ave, Pickwick Gap, St. Michael who was struck to the right side of his head with a piece of wood by a man unknown to him.
"The man escaped along the said Risk Road."
He added that Nurse was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance, where he was treated:
"Raymon Nurse, was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel and was transported to the QEH.
"He complained of pain to his ear and head. Investigations are continuing."
