Twenty-six-year-old Shine Tamayo, and her partner Jhon (Corr) Chen, 40, paid a wedding planner 140,000 pesos (USD $2,672) to supply all the food and decorations for their ceremony in Pasig City, the Philippines, on December 3.
They left the church and arrived at a hotel for the reception to find that the company had failed to supply food for their guests.
Determined to continue with their big day, they said they carried trays full of noodles and other local cuisines from a restaurant across the road.
The exhausted bride was forced to serve street food and blackcurrant squash to her guests.
When Shine made the big gesture of cutting the wedding cake, she sliced through the icing only to discover it had been stuffed with polystyrene.
The humiliated bride covered her face and broke down in floods of tears in front of her family and friends.
She was so distraught that guests took her to the local police station where officers inspected the two-tier wedding cake. They confirmed that the base had been made entirely from foam wrapped in red icing. The caterer, Krissa Cananea, seen in the video, was also dragged to the station.
The devastated bride said, "The woman we paid to do the food has ruined my wedding. She's a liar. She always asked me for money and I always gave her what she needs because I wanted my wedding to be perfect."
