Barbados Blood Collection Centre needs more voluntary blood donors walking through their doors on a day-to-day basis.

Here are eight frequently asked questions by persons thinking to give blood or who want to become registered blood donors.

1. Why donate blood?

Giving blood at the National Blood Collection Centre means that the Blood Bank at Barbados' lone hospital - Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), will have more blood for their surgeries and emergency operations. If people donate on a daily basis then when friends and family need blood there would be no demand or blood donation requirement because the Bank is supplied or full.

2. When can I donate?

You can donate every three months.
