Women's Premier League: Mavericks and Genesis record victories
Front runners Novum Energy Mavericks SC and Guardian Group Kick Start Genesis recorded impressive victories last Saturday evening, as the 2018 Barbados Football Association (BFA) Women’s Premier League continued at the BFA Wildey Turf.
Mavericks recorded their third win of the season when they defeated the National Sports Council (NSC) ladies 3-0.
National senior team forward and Mavericks’ sharpshooter Felicia Jarvis raced to the top of the goalscoring charts with a classy hat-trick; taking her tally for the season to nine goals.
Jarvis scored in the 12th, 14th and 17th minutes.
The reformed Genesis team’s good form continued, handing strugglers Empire SC their fourth consecutive defeat; 7-0.
Seven different players got on the score sheet for Genesis who have now recorded 13 goals from their four matches.
National youth midfielder Asha Stevenson got the ball rolling in the 11th minute, then three minutes later Tiana Sealy doubled the lead.
Arianna Allen netted her first goal of the season in the 32nd minute before Zara Owen completed the first-half scorecard; 4-0.
Shanice Stevenson scored her seventh goal of the season in the 52nd minute, Nashandi Clarke made it goal number six in the 75th minute and goalkeeper Rowland Kirton-Browne wrapped up the scoring with Genesis’ seventh goal in the 79thminute.
Genesis will attempt to regain top spot in the league on Tuesday when they face defending champions the University of the West Indies (UWI) at the BFA Turf at 7:00 p.m.
