Barbados Weather Report - TS Karen bring gusty winds, Sept 22

Cloudy to overcast and windy with moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected on Sunday, September 22 as the latest named storm of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season, Karen churns in the Atlantic.

At 5 am, TS Karen was located near 11.9N, 60.2W or about 100 miles, just about 160 km south-west of Barbados, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph or 65 km/h, the storms present movement is to the west north at 9mph.  Its minimum central pressure stood at 1005 MB.

As a result, tonight will also be generally cloudy and windy with some pockets of light to moderate showers, periods of rain and possible isolated thunderstorms.

Winds in the morning are expected from the South East, blowing to the East at between 45 to 60 km/h with gusts to storm force, but a shift in the evening is expected and winds should be blowing from the South to the East South East at  between 45 to 55 km/h with higher gusts near showers.

Seas are rough in open water with swells from 3.0m to 4.0m and as a result, a high-surf advisory and a small craft warning are in effect. 

The sun rose over Barbados this morning at 5:48 am and it will set around 5:55 pm.

The maximum temperature recorded yesterday morning was 31.8⁰C and it dropped to a low of 24.4⁰C overnight.
