Every year Limegrove Lifestyle Centre hosts a Valentine promotion to promote love and this year's “Love is in the Air” theme was a hit with patrons.

In addition to specials offered by the stores and restaurants at the luxury centre, patrons of the mall enjoyed two additional surprises yesterday.

Local band G-Syndicate, which has become a staple of the annual promotion, traversed the stores and dining establishments, distributing roses while serenading patrons with their magical vocals. Recipients were pleasantly surprised with these tokens, compliments Limegrove, and many walked away with smiles plastered on their faces. In addition to their roving serenades, the local groups also treated patrons to an hour-long concert in the Centre’s Waterfall courtyard.

Itinerant poet Kevin Daveny was the Centre’s second treat. Seated with his Corona model 3 typewriter “Val”, the talented creative was providing original pieces of poetry to interested patrons for a nominal fee. He has been writing poetry for two decades and began travelling in 2015 with his typewriter, exploring and finding new poetry communities. In addition to poems conceptualized on the spot, patrons also chose from his novel matchbox-sized poetry books or opted to purchase a regular book with a collection of his work.

In a brief interview about their Valentine’s initiative Events Manager for the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre Jaime Zimmerman told Loop “We’re all about the love. It’s all about feeling good and listening to good music at Limegrove.”
