As of 8:10 p.m. on August 23, all of Light & Power's customers were restored.
The crews continue to make good progress on the maintenance work described yesterday. The Barbados Light & Power Company apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience experienced and thanks them for their patience and understanding.
ORIGINAL STORY: BL&P tells customers to expect power outages
The Barbados Light & Power (BL&P) has issued a notice informing customers that the company is once again dealing with generation issues.
As a result, today Friday August 23, there will be an interruption of service in some areas. The company did not provide information on the areas to be affected by outages.
BL&P noted the service interruption is an unusual series of events for the company and assures its employees are working around the clock to resolve the issues and to safely restore generation capacity.
“Light & Power believes that the issues will be resolved over the next few days, which will minimize the need for ‘load sharing’ among its residential customers. However, in the interim some customers may be affected by power outages.”
The company apologises to its customers for the recent disruptions and for the inconvenience that will be experienced today.
Light & Power will inform the public on its progress and continue to provide updates through media and through its social media channels throughout the day.
