Contact tracers find Barbados' latest COVID-19 patient

Barbados’ latest COVID-19 positive case is a 55-year-old Barbadian man who was identified through contact tracing by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

In this instance, the COVID-positive patient did not present for testing after developing symptoms. Contact tracers found him as they worked through persons who came into contact with a patient who had already tested positive.

His was the only positive test out of 132 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday (May 15). Two people will be released from isolation today. The number in isolation now moves to 12.

Between March 16 and today May 16, Barbados has now reported 86 confirmed cases comprising 44 women and 42 men. Sixty-seven people have recovered now and seven patients have died.

The public health laboratory has now completed 3,783 tests.
