Telecommunication provider Digicel (Barbados) is allowing its customers to access COVID-19 facts and information from government websites for free.

Taking a bold step as the world grapples with this pandemic, Digicel made this decision in an effort to combat the spread of myths and untruths about the novel coronavirus.

Customers can now browse gov.bb and gisbarbados.gov.bb for the national updates, the factual information and to have their frequently asked questions about COVID-19 answered.

This step taken by Digicel comes as persons are being bombarded with a surplus of information - true and untrue.

Giving this directive, Digicel (Barbados) CEO Yaser Maher has said:

"We at Digicel (Barbados) want to help our custoomers and we believe that means ensuring they know the facts about COVID-19. At this time people need to know where they can find the truth and we want to assist them by making this possible for free."

Digicel (Jamaica) has similarly done the same for its government sites. The full list of zero-rated sites are here.
