Laboratory results from tests conducted on Friday, October 9, have revealed that an 81-year-old Barbadian man tested positive for COVID-19 after his second test. 

He arrived in Barbados on Sunday, October 4, on a British Airways flight, and went into quarantine as required for persons travelling from high-risk countries. This now brings the tally of confirmed cases to 206 and increases the number of persons in isolation to 16. The island’s recoveries remain at 183. 

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory completed 379 tests on Friday, and a total of 27,350 tests since February. 

Testing related to the recent cluster, inclusive of staff and students of The Ellerslie School, remains ongoing.
