Flood warning for central and eastern districts of Barbados

The Met Office has announced a flood warning is in effect for Central and Eastern districts of Barbados from 12 pm and will be terminated at 6 pm or sooner if conditions warrant. 

It was reported that maximum rainfall accumulations of 20.0 mm to 40.0 mm in moderate to heavy showers are expected over the warning area. 

Residents and visitors should note that the following impacts are imminent during this forecast period; 

  • Strong run off from higher elevations. 
  • Soil erosion likely on barred or scarred land surfaces. 
  • Debris such as small rocks, mud and tree foliage could end up on roads and property. 
  • Traffic delays are likely. 
  • Flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads is possible.
