West Indies stars Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy and Darren Bravo are among the international players in the running for places in the roster of teams in the 2020 Lanka Premier League.

The auction for the LPL will be held on October 1 and the Windies trio are among 150 players teams can bid for.

Bravo is coming off another successful campaign in the Caribbean Premier League, where he scored 58 not out in the final on Thursday to help the Trinbago Knight Riders to an eight-wicket win over the St Lucia Zouks.

Gayle, who was due to represent the Zouks in the tournament, pulled out for personal reasons.

Sammy captained the Zouks, taking them to their first final in CPL history, but did not have a good tournament with either bat or ball.

Franchises in the 2020 Lanka Premier League can buy up to six international players, among their squad of 19 players.

The tournament is set to feature 23 matches between November 14 to December 6, with matches played in Dambulla, Pallekele and Hambantota, while the launch will take place in Hambantota.

The LPL was due to played in late August but was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
