A love story between Kris Clarke and Jewel née Garner penned over the last 17 years added a wedding chapter yesterday, August 29.
"We've been together for 17 years", Kris told Loop Lifestyle, "Quite a long and beautiful love story."
They exchanged vows before God, family and friends at the St Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral and in these COVID-19 times or social distancing, limited flying for non-essential travel and number restrictions for events, many of their loved ones also got to witness the momentous occasion via stream.
Their eight-year-old daughter Jordyn was included in the day's proceedings and festivities of course. She was the flower girl in the procession ahead of her mom. Her dad said she even had her own plans for the big day. "She insisted that she wear a tiara like a princess."
Taking a minute to chat with Loop, today, only hours after saying their 'I dos', Kris and Jewel shared how they felt yesterday,
"I felt ready. I woke up super early. We both did actually. Went down for breakfast with Andre [bestie and fellow 2 Mile Hill bandmate] and got ourselves ready to head down to the church."
With a laugh he said, "Didn’t wanna be late for my own wedding!"
Smiling, he added: "Jewel was too excited. Up since 3.30 am doing nothing and didn’t even eat any breakfast. No nerves experienced by either of us.
"I did shed a tear during a very moving performance by Mi Familia. That’s what I call them - [2 Mile Hill lead vocalist] Mahalia, [the orange-hair songbird] Nikita, [vocal coach and singer] Rochelle, Brad, Chadd, Russell and Neil were absolutely amazing!" Rochelle is a former bandmate with Kris and she and Brad form the Classic Silhouettes duo, while Chadd and Russell are also part of 2 Mile Hill. Kris had the whole gang involved truly.
The new Mrs Clarke, Jewel told Loop:
"At the reception we were really pleased to spend our special time with an intimate gathering of our immediate family and closest friends. It was only fitting that we spent it at Tapas which is one of our favorite places. The team went over, above and beyond to ensure that we had a truly memorable day. We had his and hers cocktails complemented by a wonderful menu."
After the ceremony and at the reception, Kris admitted: "I started to feel fussy when we were introduced at the reception. Our entrance was as dramatic as they do it in the WWE, with cool entrance music and cold sparks. Renaissance and IGM hooked me up proper!"
Basking in the post-wedding-day glow, asked 'How they feel today,?' Kris said: "How do we feel now? It’s weird to put into words. For now, we’re savoring the moment."
