The Tropical Storm Warning for Barbados has been discontinued, effective immediately.
This announcement was made by the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS).
At 8 pm today, Friday, July 24, 2020, Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near 310 miles SE of Barbados. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h). Storm-force winds extend outward only to 25 miles from the center.
According to information posted by the BMS it is expected that weak unstable conditions associated with the storm will begin to affect the island tonight (July 24). However, the forecast expects a mix of clear skies and clouds with intermittent light to moderate showers and a very slight chance of isolated thunderstorms.
Tropical Storm Gonzalo continues on its present westward track and the threat of storm-force winds to Barbados has significantly diminished.
