Leading gents clothing store Praxis closing at the end of July

Popular gentleman’s clothing store Praxis closes its doors today (July 31).

The business has joined the list of others which have not fared well post- COVID-19.

The closure was made public via a notice posted to the store’s social media pages on July 26, 2020.

The fashionable gent’s gift shop, which was founded in 2002, first opened its doors in the Spirit Bond Mall in Bridgetown. Over the years, it developed a reputation as one of the island’s leading men’s fashion stores. In recent years it operated from Coconut Walk in Hastings, Christ Church.

In the online notice, founder and Managing Director of the business. Adrian Elcock, expressed his thanks for the support of his customers, staff and partners over the years.

He wrote: “Our success over the years was due in no small part to you our customers and my amazing staff and partners over the years. I want to thank all of you for your loyal patronage and I want to thank my partners Ricky and Althea Rowe, and teammates Waveney Yarde, Adrian Burnett, Namita Griffith, Cheryl Coward, the late Cathy Jules and the Management of Coconut Walk Shops, for your contribution in making Praxis one of the leading fashion brands in Barbados!”

Elcock went on to explain that the store would be forced to close its doors due to “recent events”.

“It is with immense regret that I announce the closure of Praxis at the end of July 2020 after 18 years of serving the fashion conscious men of Barbados. Recent events have made it financially impossible to continue our business,” he revealed in the posted notice.

The retail store offered a wide range of fashionable gents clothing and accessories from various brands. It employed two people.
