The Lodge School is closed now.

Not a week into the new school year and two secondary schools have been closed in just as many days, due to environmental issues.

The Barbados Government Information Service issued a notice stating:

"The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training has advised that The Lodge School at Society, St John is now closed due to an environmental problem.

"Parents/guardians are asked to collect their children as soon as possible.

"Buses from the Transport Board are on site to transport students."

School will remain closed on Friday, September 25. "School will be online tomorrow to facilitate the remediation needed."

On Facebook, the Lodge School PTA page posted an urgent notice as well:

"Dear Parents

Please note the school has closed due to environmental issues.

Please collect your children immediately!!!"

The notices were published one hour ago, around 9:30 am.

Yesterday (September 23) The Parkinson Memorial School was also closed abruptly and environmental problems were cited as the reason for the closure.
