Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic, announced he has tested negative for the novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

The Minister of Health, ministry officials, media personnel, and Government officers who attended the welcoming ceremony of 95 Ghanian nurses on July 30 were ordered to self-quarantine from August 1 after nine of the nurses tested positive for COVID-19.

In following the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kenneth George to stay away from this office, Bostic self quarantined at home.

Addressing the nation via Zoom during the COVID news conference this morning, Bostic cleared up all concerns about his health status.

"I had my test yesterday and the test result is as I expected which is negative and that is because all of the protocols which I am enforcing, I follow those protocols and I feel very confident that everything was done properly by the entire team that was with me so I was not surprised by the negative result," he remarked.

Barbados recorded one new COVID-19 case today, a female passenger who arrived on island on August 4. She has since been placed in isolation.
