Four students who performed well in and outside of the classroom in primary school earned themselves a Sandals Foundation Care For Kids Scholarships.

The annual scholarship is awarded to students transitioning from the primary to the secondary school level, who performed well during their primary school years not only academically, but who were involved in extra-curricular activities as well.

The scholarship founded by Sandals Barbados and the Sandals Foundation seeks to make back-to-school preparations easier for parents employed by the resort. Parents also received stationery gift packages as back-to-school necessities.

Sandals Resorts Barbados General Manager, Ramel Sobrino, lauded the initiative and said it was a continuation of Sandals’ efforts to help those in need during difficult circumstances.

“COVID-19 has certainly changed the way in which we live, think and act; but one constant has always been our dedication to assisting those in need whether it be through the Sandals Foundation or our general staff programmes.

“As our resorts reopen across the Caribbean, we continue to be proud to stand by our team members and assist in any way we can. It was also pleasing to see that this gesture was well appreciated by them as well,” said Sobrino.

The Sandals Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the luxury resort chain and was created to continue and expand upon the work that Sandals Resorts International has undertaken. The Foundation funds projects in three core areas: education, community, and the environment.
