Stefanie Taylor's team beat a Deandra Dottin side in the West Indies women's first practice match since arriving in Derby two weeks ago for the Sandals West Indies Women's Tour of England 2020.

Taylor led from the front, hitting 71 from 52 balls in her team's total of 131/6 in their 20 overs.

T&T star Britney Cooper hit 24, while Team Dottin's Aaliyah Alleyne took 3/35, while Shakira Selman had 2/15.

Dottin led her team well with a quickfire 41 off 43 deliveries but they fell eight runs short due to fine bowling by Sheneta Grimmond (2/16) and Shamilia Connell (2/23).

West Indies Women will have one more practice match on Wednesday before the start of the series on Monday September at the Incora County Ground.

Speaking after the match, interim Head Coach Andre Coley said he was pleased with his players.

“We are happy with how things went. Now it’s just about fine-tuning and building momentum leading into the series next week," Coley said.

The first of five T20I matches is on September 21 at Derby.

This tour replaced England's scheduled series against India and South Africa, which were cancelled following the coronavirus pandemic.
