Ultra Music Festival attracts thousands from around the world.

Ultra Music Festival attracts thousands from around the world.

Miami officials are expected to make an official announcement on Friday about the fate of the Ultra Music Festival.

The Miami Herald reports that a decision was made to cancel the event following a meeting on Wednesday morning between Miami's Mayor Francis Suarez, City Manager Art Noriega and Ultra representatives.

The decision to cancel the event is due to concerns over the spread of novel coronavirus or COVID-19.

Sources say that city officials have yet to announce details of their decision since attorneys are ironing out the legal issues, including the length of the delay.

If cancelled, this would be the first time in its 21-year-old history that Ultra would not take place in the Greater Miami area.

The Ultra Music Festival is a three-day EDM event that attracts thousands from all over the world.

The event was due to take place from March 20 to 22.
