Youth in action on parade
Despite a dip in the number of persons on parade in the Independence Day parade, spectators came out in their numbers to cheer.
Retired member of the Barbados Defense Force (BDF) Warrant Officer Class 1 Cherrol Deane said the numbers are down from the last years on parade. He said that the number of units not on parade was "of grave concern".

However, Member of Parliament Wilfred Abrahams chose not to focus on fewer units, but instead highlighted the fact that it appeared as though more young people were on parade this year. There were even the Brownies. There were cheerleaders aplenty and more within the Landship and Barbados Youth Advance Corps along with the Boy Scouts, Cadets, Red Cross, St John Ambulance and Girl Guides.
He also spoke to Loop after the Independence Day parade and the new We Gatherin' Procession to share his love for this annual event which embraces the youth.
