WATCH: St Kitts Music Festival 2020 cancelled amid COVID-19 concerns

The 2020 St Kitts Music Festival has been cancelled.

Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant made the announcement on Thursday, just one day after the Federation confirmed its first two cases of the coronavirus.

He said: “These have been very difficult times and it has not been an easy task to navigate the fast moving developments. We have been proactive in our approach and have prepared accordingly for any escalation in the event of the COVID-19 pandemic reaching our shores and having a local impact."

With borders closed, airlines suspending services and a cruise sector that has been unceremoniously shut down, Minister Grant said a decision was taken to protect the integrity of the festival.

Given the uncertainties, he said postponing the event is in the best interest of all involved.

Originally scheduled for June 24-28 this year, the St Kitts Music Festival has been rescheduled to June 23-27, 2021.
